2D, 3D, 4D and 5D parametrics in Sketchup. – PlusSpec

BIM in SketchUp done the right way.

BIM in Sketchup, we spent 8 years developing PlusSpec for my design and construction company and now we are sharing it with the world. Collaboration in 3D is the future, associating time and cost is imperative in the design and construction industry.  I hope you enjoy this video.

BIM this, BIM that, I am really sick and tired of reading about it.

Do you really need to know about BIM? Well to be honest, no. All architects and designers really need is to satisfy the needs of their clients  and authorities and to ensure they have communicated the design intent sufficiently to the construction crews.  An engineer plays a very important role in the construction process and you will see how the architect or building designer can clearly outline the design intent and show the complexities associated.

I personally find the BIM acronym to be insufficient

Building Information Modeling (BIM) Big deal technically anything could be BIM provided it has information associated with a 3D model, Hell truth be told it could be 2D and still be considered BIM. So what is the use of having all of the information if it is not easily accessible by the people who need it?

Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) is the shnizzzzle.

If you are anything like me you do not like sifting through page after page of documentation and the cross referencing this information on a 2D plan. It is easy to make mistakes and it is easy to overlook details in connections or assimilate colour with product. This video will show you where we were up to 2 years ago and how VDC makes everything understandable. To find out more about where we are up to now you should check out PlusSpec website

Can you remodel using BIM?

This video shows a comprehensive remodelling and alteration/addition to an existing home in Sydney Australia. Decide for yourself.
