GLOBAL SETTINGS

Postby johnclancy78 » Mon May 14, 2018 7:51 pm

Hi Grant,

Is there a method to set up a template for plusspec to automatically have my preferred settings when I open a new sketchup file?

For example, My walls are almost always double masonary, at 2440mm high. The header for my doors and windows are almost always at 2100mm etc. It would be very handy if we could have a template file like we can do with sketchup.

Regards

John

Hi John,

Thank you for your post.

The best way to currently do this is to draw all your common wall types, sizes & material in a blank file and use them as snippets or examples, then create a new SketchUp template and make it your default template. This way every time you open a new model these will appear and if you use the 'Create Similar Wall' option when you right-click on them it'll take all the materials & values set from that wall and put it in the dialog for you to use.

Would you be able to please let me know if this works for you?
Kind Regards,
Grant

or you can save your favourite wall types to components in Sketchup. I made a file called walls in the components directory. There is a video on how to do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXRvzxu-geI
