Material calculation

Stud Example for Emily 2.jpgHi there,
Hi there
I am currently in the middle of a project which is a conversion of an existing building into 26 separate flat units. I have created 3 different stud/ partition type walls to deal with building regs/ fire requirements etc. On all stud/ wall types I have to create 2 layers of 12.5mm plasterboard on either side of the stud wall. I have created a material to illustrate the plasterboard at a total width of 25mm wide to indicate 2 layers of plasterboard but my question is, how do I transfer this into the take-off as it is obviously only given a take-off amount as if one layer of plasterboard is being applied.

I have attached the take-off which indicates an area of 7.733m2 on each side with a total of 15.467m2 but I need this to indicate twice this amount to take into account 2 layers on each side of the stud.

Regards

Tim

HI Sweepy that is a really easy one to answer.
Currently your BOQ is counting the face area of the Plasterboard, yet you will notice under the unit of measure heading you have Item/m2, and under that, you can type in the number of items per square metre. In your case, all you need to do is to type in 2 in that box.
Estimating takeoff items multiplier for BOQ from Sketchup model.jpg
To explain: currently, the takeoff is calculated square measures, and you need 2 square measures per square metre. In this case, there are two items per square measure, so now the BOQ will count items per square metre and not squares.

This function can also be used to buy sheet sizes. EG if there were 4 sqm in a sheet of plasterboard, you would type in .25 which essentially means every square metre is .25 of a sheet of plasterboard.

OR
If you click on the two arrows (left of the items/m2) it will change the takeoff to how many metres squared per item. In this case you would type in 4 metres per item.

NOTE, It is good that you created a double plasterboard material as the multiplier will only associate double quantities with that particular material. Your other materials will not be affected by this change. In some cases, plastering companies are associating colour and text with different plasterboard materials so they can get a colour coded cut list in the model; the key is to associate the suitable material with the right wall.
