Export IFC model faces with m2 geometry

I was wondering if you knew the best way to export an ifc file out of sketchup and retain the geometry of the faces in the model. It only appears to brin m3 volume data across?

So you mean can we retain the m2 of bricks? The answer depends on the software you are opening it with.
